What is Booster Club?

The purpose of the Dallas Center-Grimes Booster Club is to promote and foster interest in and good will toward all athletic activities affiliated with the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District.

The club is involved in providing support to the DCG Athletic Department in the purchasing of equipment, uniforms and other items to enhance the program.

In the 2008-2009 school year the group has provided new weight lifting equipment, uniforms and warm ups for athletes, video editing system, camps, cheerleading mats. The group has also provided new batting cages and pitching machines for the softball program and resurfaced the infield at the baseball field.

The group raises money through memberships (family and business), selling concessions at home events, sale of DCG apparel and other fundraisers throughout the year.

The Booster Club will meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm.

Iowa Code 135.17, Dental Screenings of Children law 2010 amendments include:

SCHOOL DENTAL SCREENINGS. Iowa Code 135.17 amendments: 

* A child enrolled in elementary school provides evidence of a dental screening to the school district or accredited nonpublic elementary school, no earlier than three years of age but no later than four months after enrollment 

* A high school student provides evidence to the school of having, at a minimum, a dental screening performed no earlier than one year prior to enrollment and not later than four months after enrollment by a licensed dental hygienist or dentist

* Dental screening performed by a licensed physician, a licensed nurse, a licensed physician assistant, or a licensed dental hygienist or dentist (as defined in Iowa code omitted allowing out-of-state practitioners to perform the screening) 

* Allows school nurses to record information on the IDPH Certificate of Dental Screening Form

* By May 31 annually, each school furnishes Public Health evidence each student required has met the dental screening requirement

Head Coach: Cheryl Voelker

Cheryl Voelker has been  the varsity coach since the 2012 season.. Prior to this, she coached middle school and with a variety of local clubs. Her goal is to provide opportunities for players to grow as people through positive leadership, teamwork, and a clear vision of success both on and off the court.

She was a member of the Iowa State Volleyball team from 1983 - 1986. In 2007,  she was recognized as one of Michigan’s Legends of the Games for her participation on the 1982 state championship team. “I love volleyball and have been playing since I was in middle school. I have always had the desire to coach a state championship team. I still play in the Grimes recreation program "Just for Fun".

I look forward to working with DC-G Volleyball and continue to build on the tradition of success.”




JV Coach: Mollie Coffman

Mollie has been around volleyball for many years. After graduating from Ballard High School, Mollie played for DMACC, ISU Club, and Grand View University. Mollie continues to play volleyball in a competitive league. “I have been coaching club volleyball every year since graduating from Ballard in 2005. I also coached JV/Asst Varsity at Ballard for two years in 2009 and 2010.  I am super excited to get to work with the girls!”

Assistant Coach: Brian Rios

Brian was born and raised in Hawai'i on the island of O'ahu where he played USVBA men's club volleyball for 14 years. He coached two years at St. Francis School in Honolulu before moving to Iowa with his family in August of 2004. Once here, Coach Brian started coaching girls’ club volleyball for I-80 Blues (Bondurant) for several years before joining Ricochet Volleyball Club (Grimes). Coach Brian is currently club director/ coach for  his Ohana volleyball club. Coach Brian will join the DCG coaching staff as the sophomore coach.

9th Grade:Coach TJ Moore

TJ is an all around athlete participating in all sports while attending DCG.  “I graduated from DCG in 2004 and am happy to be back in the district. My previous coaching experience includes coaching 9th grade volleyball at Dowling Catholic in the fall of 2009, 9th grade softball at DCG in the summer of 2010, and middle school volleyball at Ventura Community School in fall 2010. I can’t wait to get started on the 2012 volleyball season!”

9th Grade Assistant: Coach Rebecca Westphal

Rebecca is originally from Southwest Iowa and has coached at East High School at the JV level and assistant varsity level.  She played Libero/DS for four years at Simpson College on a team that went to three National Championship Tournaments and won two Conference Titles.  As a first year coach at DCG, Coach Rebecca is excited to challenge girls to work hard and perfect their volleyball skills while having fun at the same time.  "Volleyball is my favorite sport and I want to share that love I have with DCG!"

Baseball - DCG Mustangs 2012 Class 3A State Champions

Congratulations to the Mustangs Baseball Team - Class 3A State Champions! The 'Stangs beat Decorah in the final game tonight, 13-0. Once again, congratulations to Coach Byron Peyton and the Mustangs baseball team.
