My name is Scott Blum and it is my privilege to serve as the principal at Dallas Center-Grimes High School. I am currently in my seventh year as principal at the high school, and my tenth year in the building.
I earned my teaching degree at Iowa State University with a BS in History and a secondary teaching license in 2004. I began my teaching career at Waukee High School, where I taught social studies for nine years. I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Administration in 2008. In the fall of 2013, I began my administrative career here at DCG as the Dean of Students. In 2016, I was blessed to become the high school principal. In May of 2022, I earned my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Drake University.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Cara. Together we have three boys; Ethan (sophomore at Iowa State), Taylor (7th grade), and Carson (5th grade). We love living in Grimes and spending time out at the ball diamonds, soccer and football fields, and basketball courts. It has truly been a blessing to be a part of such a fantastic high school and our amazing Dallas Center and Grimes communities.
