200 students. 50 teams. Dozens of books. All at DCG Middle School on Saturday, March 23.
“I think it’s so cool that so many kids are invested in reading these books and our school is invested in something like this,” says 6th grade student Emma Oberreuter.
Our district is invested, and so are these very talented readers.
“I chose Battle of the Books because I love to read personally,” shares 5th grade student Mia Jones. “It’s good to challenge your brain and have a fun time at the competition.
A love for reading is such an important part of the education journey at DCG. The Battle of the Books competition is the perfect place for the love to be on display.
“It’s a great way to open up new ideas to kids and give them an opportunity they may not have had before,” says DCG Middle School Teacher Tom Clark. “Some of the coaches have told me before that Battle of the Books opened up a love for reading for some of their students.”
The countdown to competition day is getting shorter and shorter every day. There’s a lot of work to be done in just three short weeks. Battle of the Books is a showcase of their talent and hard work.
“I’m just really excited for the competition to be at my school,” adds 5th grade student Julia Zaruba.
