Travis Donahue has been named DCG’s Director of Custodial Services and Buildings. Donahue currently serves as the building principal at DCG High School.
“I am thrilled for this opportunity at Dallas Center-Grimes,” shares Donahue. “I have a passion for DCG and a passion for construction. This position will allow me to serve our entire district and create educational environments that will meet the needs of every student we serve.”
Donahue spent the last two years as DCG High School Principal. He’s been with DCG CSD for the last 18 years, also serving as DCG High School’s Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, At-Risk Coordinator and Industrial Technology Teacher.
“Travis Donahue has been a key part of DCG for nearly two decades,” shares DCG CSD Superintendent Dr. Scott Blum. “His background in our district and in the field of construction will benefit thousands of students every single day. He’s been a trusted colleague of mine for a number of years, and I am confident that he will excel in this new role.”
Donahue graduated from Waukon Senior High in 2000, then went to North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City to play football and earn an AA degree. After graduation, Donahue began coaching varsity football and wrestling in Waukon, which motivated him to pursue a degree in education. Donahue completed his undergraduate degree in Industrial Technology Education from Upper Iowa University in May of 2007. He later completed his Masters in Education from Viterbo University in 2010, followed by completion of his Administrative License program at Viterbo in 2015.
Donahue will work closely with Sean Shatava, DCG’s Director of Maintenance and Grounds, as part of DCG’s Operations Department. Travis and Sean will ensure our district meets the day-to-day demands and set us up for sustained growth. Sean’s been a leader in our operations department for 18 years. They have worked at DCG for a combined 36 years! This transition is pending DCG School Board approval.
His first day in the new position will be July 1, 2025. The district will begin an immediate search to find the next DCG High School Principal.
