Deputy Ben Spracklin Named DCG SRO – Pending Board Approval

Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is excited to announce that Deputy Ben Spracklin from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office will be joining our team as a School Resource Officer – pending DCG School Board approval.

Spracklin will join Deputy Alan Loutzenhiser at DCG and will work primarily out of Oak View with other responsibilities throughout our district. He will also join the DCG Safety Team and lead our school safety trainings.

“I’m thrilled to join the team at Dallas Center-Grimes,” shares Deputy Spracklin. “I will work diligently to be a trusted member of the community and look forward to building relationships with everyone I meet.”

Deputy Spracklin was born and raised in a small farm town in Eastern Nebraska. After his high school graduation, Spracklin joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the infantry for five years, including one deployment to Iraq.

Spracklin was hired by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 2019 and has served in various roles for the last 5+ years. Deputy Spracklin is also a certified field training officer and a firearms instructor.

“We were blown away by the interest in our SRO position,” adds Dr. Scott Blum, DCG CSD Superintendent. “Deputy Spracklin is a dedicated public servant, and I’m so excited to watch him join Deputy Loutzenhiser at Dallas Center-Grimes. They will make a great team!”

Deputy Spracklin’s first day at DCG will be Wednesday, August 20. He will replace Deputy MaKennah Walters, who is pursuing a career outside of law enforcement. We would like to thank Deputy Walters for her commitment to Dallas Center-Grimes.
