Mustang Athletic Performance Center Officially Opens

January 12, 2024

Thursday, January 11 was a monumental day at Dallas Center-Grimes.  The Mustang Athletic Performance Center is officially open.

“You see the blueprint, but it’s not the same until you see it in real life,” says Eli Carpenter, DCG Senior.

“I walked in and it was so surreal,” adds senior Sayler Ribich.

“Walking in here I just see the opportunities,” shares senior Addy Janssen.

600 DCG High School students will be using this new room every year.  It’s a major progress point for both extracurricular activities and high school coursework.

“It’s going to be one of the best in the state, if not the midwest,” says Jake Lewis, DCG Strength and Conditioning Coach. “Being able to outfit a room like this and have them take advantage of it in the school setting with our classes and the performance setting with our sports is going to be incredible.”

The weight room ribbon-cutting ceremony closes the chapter on phase one of the renovation project at DCG High School. From an incredible new band room that is used by musicians and our Marching Mustangs. To a space of creativity in our new art classrooms, used by more than 540 students each year. There’s a lot to be proud of at DCG. Click here to learn more about the renovation project.

“Dreams to reality,” shares Lewis.  “It’s been awesome to see all of the fine arts stuff go up in the first phase of this project and then to see this side get taken care of. It’s just a huge benefit for our kids and I’m excited to see them use it.”

When you match driven and determined kids, with top-tier facilities, Dallas Center-Grimes stands out.

“It’s completely game-changing,” says Carpenter.

“We have more opportunities to improve our daily life,” adds Ribich. “It brings so much to the program and to DCG as a whole.”

Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is committed to providing all of our students with incredible facilities. The new Mustang Athletic Performance Center is the latest example.

“I’m really proud to be a Mustang all the time, but especially today,” says Carpenter.
