Oak View Mural Club Finishes First Design

Oak View has set a building goal of 100% of 7th and 8th grade students being involved in at least one club or activity. As the calendar turns to 2026, Oak View is getting closer to completion.

89% of 7th graders are involved in at least one activity.

85% of 8th graders are involved in at least one activity.

Both of these percentages improved on their marks from the 2024-25 school year.

One of the new clubs at Oak View this year is the Mural Club. Students were given the opportunity to create the first piece of student artwork to ever be displayed in school hallways (outside of the art room on the second floor). They completed their work in December and are featured on a newstory from WHO-TV 13 in Des Moines. Here’s a look at the brand new Oak View Mural.

Developing clubs at Oak View is a great way for students to gain a sense of belonging at their school. It’s also an opportunity for staff members to grow relationships with students. 92% of 8th graders feel like there is a trusted adult in the building. 88% of 7th graders feel the same way. When students and staff work together, incredible things like the Mural Club are formed! We are excited to see what club is coming next!
