Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is excited to announce Dr. Greg Carenza as our district’s new Associate Superintendent of School Improvement, pending DCG School Board approval. Dr. Carenza will join our team in July.
“This is an incredible opportunity in a district that I love,” shares Dr. Carenza. “I’m passionate about supporting teachers and providing opportunities to reach their potential every single day. I can’t wait to work alongside them this fall!”
Dr. Carenza is currently the Walnut Hills Elementary Principal in the Waukee Community School District, a position he’s held since 2018. Dr. Carenza is a proven leader in curriculum leadership and he’s developed a building platform centered around professional learning communities. Dr. Carenza has also worked as an elementary principal in the Urbandale Community School District and Iowa Falls Community School District.
This is also a homecoming of sorts for Dr. Carenza. He served as DCG’s Director of Teaching and Learning from 2016-18.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Carenza back to Dallas Center-Grimes,” says DCG Interim Superintendent Dr. Scott Blum. “He’s a dedicated educator who brings a wealth of experience to our district. He also brings a personality that will connect with teachers and administrators throughout our district.”
Dr. Carenza received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University in 1998, followed by a Master of Science Degree in 2002. In 2008 he earned his Educational Specialist Degree from Drake University and his Doctor of Education Degree in 2011, with a major in Educational Leadership.
Carenza’s wife Allison is a Kindergarten Teacher at Heritage Elementary. They have four children – Ty (20), Beau (19), Colin (15) and Caroline (11).
“I’m so excited to begin my work at DCG,” says Dr. Carenza. “Connecting with our teachers and welcoming them back to start the 2023-24 school year will be my top priority. I stand ready to support our team as they provide incredible educational opportunities for all of our students.”
