DCG Theatre Presents Radium Girls

November 2, 2022

Radium Girls

Radium Girls is the story of Grace Fryer, who worked as a dial painter in the 1920’s. She spent her time in a factory, painting on watch dials with paint containing radium. Grace, her friends, and co-workers fall mysteriously ill, and radium is suspected to be the cause. Their employer, Arthur Roeder, refuses to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors is what caused the girls’ poor health. The show follows the efforts of Grace Fryer’s battle with the U.S. Radium Corporation – and her loved ones. Radium Girls is a powerful and engaging story that gives viewers a look into America’s fascination with wealth, health, and the commercialization of science.

Radium Girls at Dallas Center-Grimes High School is performed with 43 cast members and over 65 crew members, all of whom use their talents to put on an amazing, one-of-a-kind production. The show is under the direction of Kar Gustafson.  The show stars juniors Norah Southwick and Brady Kinman, and features seniors Emma Malmberg and Maddie Waddingham, juniors Alaina Ervin and Elle Illian, and freshman Gavin Eickelberg.
