Cambria Dirks loves to learn.
“I like seeing different works of literature and I like math because it’s challenging,” says Dirks.
Overcoming challenges fuels Cambria to be at her best, especially when it comes to spelling.
“I’ve never failed a spelling test,” she says.
The 6th grader will be representing DCG at the Middle School Regional Spelling Competition in Illinois for the second year in a row.
“I just want to do better than I did last year,” she says. “I finished in the top eight and I was the youngest one there.”
We are wishing Cambria the best of luck this Saturday in Illinois. Before she heads to the competition, she has some advice for our district’s future spelling champs.
“Keep reading because the more you read, the more words you’ll know and be able to spell,” she says. “So whenever someone says that word, you can picture that word in a book and then be able to spell it.”
