Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is excited to announce that Alyson Finley has been named our district’s new Director of Student Services.
Finley has nearly 30 years of experience in public education and currently serves as a Director of Student Services in the Des Moines Public School District.
“Humbled. Energized. Ready. I am so excited to join the incredible team at Dallas Center-Grimes, shares Finley. “This important work has been a driving force in my professional career and this role will challenge me, inspire me and fulfill me. I can’t wait to get started.”
Finley’s resume at DMPS also includes stops as a Special Education Lead Support (2010-2017), Special Education Consultant (2008-2010) and Special Education Teacher (2004-2008).
After receiving her degree at the University of Northern Iowa, Alyson obtained her post-graduate licensure from Drake University and Viterbo University.
She will oversee special education and EL at Dallas Center-Grimes and will begin her work on July 1, 2025. Alyson will be a key leader in our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible support and resources to our students and families.
“Finley’s passion for student service is incredible. She will be an advocate for our students and families, while also continuing our district’s mission of providing pathways to success for all of our students. I am thrilled to call her a colleague,” shares Dr. Scott Blum, DCG CSD Superintendent.
Finley will work closely with Roxanne Cumings (DCG’s current Director of Student Services) over the next couple of months to ensure a smooth transition. Cumings will be retiring after working in public education for nearly 50 years. Finley’s first day at DCG will be July 1, 2025.
