South Prairie Elementary Principal
Patty Morris
My name is Patty Morris and I am proud to serve as principal of South Prairie Elementary. I have been in education for more than 25 years, teaching every grade level from 1st-8th grade. I have been in several rural districts in Iowa, as well as the very urban Prince William County, Virginia, as my husband was stationed near there as a Marine. I have 12 previous years of administration ranging from curriculum director to junior high principal and finally elementary principal before accepting the job as principal at South Prairie in 2014. This variety has given me a wealth of experiences that have helped mold me into the person I am today. I received my bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, with a double major in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I later obtained my Masters in Administration through Iowa State University.
My husband, Vilas, is a machinist with Marine Corps training. We have three children, Krista, Cody, and Garrett. Garrett is the only one still in school and he attends DC-G High School.
I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing district. The staff are all very dedicated professionals who truly believe all children can learn and will do whatever it takes to help them be successful. They collaborate daily as they work to meet the needs of each individual. I feel so very blessed to be a part of this community and am so grateful this is where my path has led.
