Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is excited to announce Shana Olson as our district’s new Director of Teaching and Learning. Olson is currently an assistant principal at Shuler Elementary and Walnut Hills Elementary in the Waukee Community School District.
“I am honored and incredibly excited to be joining the team at Dallas Center-Grimes,” says Olson. “The Olson family loves this district and I can’t wait to join the team.”
Olson has lived in the DCG community for the last 14 years and currently has four children attending DCG schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in K-8 Reading and Language Arts. Olson has also received two Master’s Degrees, the first in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development, and the second in Educational Leadership.
In addition to her administrative work in Waukee, Olson has been a pillar of TLC programming. Her skill set will align directly with the work our team is currently doing.
“We feel like Shana Olson is the perfect fit at Dallas Center-Grimes,” says Dr. Scott Blum, DCG’s 2023-24 Interim Superintendent. “Our district has incredible leaders in our teaching and learning department. I’m excited about the future of this team with Shana leading the way.”
Olson was a classroom teacher for nine years (kindergarten and second grade) in the West Des Moines Community School District. She also served as the Hillside Elementary Instructional Coach for five years.
“I’m passionate about providing support to our educators and partnering with our buildings to achieve student success at extraordinary levels,” Olson says. “I’m so excited to meet our team and begin our work together for the 2023-24 school year.”
Olson’s first day in her new position will be July 1, 2023.
