Dallas Center-Grimes CSD is excited to announce Deputy Alan Loutzenhiser will be serving as our district’s first school resource officer. Loutzenhiser is currently a Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

“This is an exciting time in my career and I’m thrilled to represent the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at Dallas Center-Grimes,” says Deputy Loutzenhiser. “This is a tremendous opportunity to make a positive difference in the next generation of our community. Building a foundation of trust with the students and staff at DCG is a top priority”

Deputy Loutzenhiser’s career with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office began in 2020. He’s worked in the Court Services Division and the Patrol Division. He also served in the United States Navy as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Loutzenhiser was deployed all over the world during his time in the U.S. Navy. He spent time in Illinois, Missouri, California, Maryland and Japan. During this period, Loutzenhiser also received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at National University.

After completing his degree and serving for nearly nine years in the U.S Navy, Deputy Loutzenhiser found his calling as a law enforcement officer.

“I would like to thank the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District for selecting me as your School Resource Officer,” Loutzenhiser says. “I’m excited to begin my work in August and begin making connections with our students and staff immediately.”

Deputy Loutzenhiser will be the first School Resource Officer at Dallas Center-Grimes and will be a trusted team member in every building across our district. His primary office will be at Dallas Center-Grimes High School, but he will be working with students in every DCG building throughout the school year.

“We were incredibly impressed with Deputy Loutzenhiser’s vision for this role,” says DCG Interim Superintendent Dr. Scott Blum. “It was clear to our interview team that he’s focused on building relationships with our students and staff and will be committed to serving alongside our district leaders. This will be a great partnership!”

Deputy Loutzenhiser moved to Iowa in 2008. He has a wife (Danielle) and two children (Aubrey and Ashton) and will join the DCG team in August.
