Namish Khatri played varsity basketball for the first time in his life in DCG’s postseason victory on February 23.
“It was the greatest night of my life,” Khatri says. “I’ve never experienced anything like this before.”
With time winding down in the 4th quarter, Khatri connected on a three-point basket, the first made basket of his career.
“Hearing everyone, hearing the crowd, the student section, the bench energy, the coaches, it was just phenomenal,” Khatri adds.
Khatri is a foreign exchange student from Pakistan. He’s played basketball at home before, but nothing quite like this.
“I’ve learned what to do, so it makes it more fun. It makes it more playable. I can go back home and tell my friends how to do it, which will eventually make the sport more popular and make it better for everyone,” he says.
When Namish returns to Pakistan this summer, he will have a new highlight to show his friends and a mind full of memories about his time at Dallas Center-Grimes.
“It’s been a great time. I’ve made great friends. Everybody has been great to me, and I’m just really thankful for that.”
