DCG High School Tabs Roy and Hudson as New Assistant Principals

June 12, 2023

Dallas Center-Grimes High School is excited to announce that Austin Roy and Sheila Hudson have been selected as assistant principals. Roy and Hudson will begin their new roles on July 1, 2023.

Roy is no stranger to Dallas Center-Grimes. He’s been teaching in the district for eight years with a focus on physics, engineering and computer science.

“The students and staff at DCG have shaped me into the educator and leader I am today,” Roy shares. “I cherish this chance to join the high school administrative team to create environments where all students can grow into who they have been created to be and ready to meet the world’s needs now, and into the future.”

Roy received a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Drake University. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Simpson College, with minors in Secondary Education and Mathematics. He is currently an Adjunct Instructor at Drake University and has experience as the Dean of Students at Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School.

Hudson is coming to our district via the West Des Moines Community School District and Drake University. Sheila is a leader in the ESL work at WDMCSD and is currently an adjunct instructor, teaching a variety of ESL courses to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education at Drake.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to guide and support our students on their journey to success at DCG,” Hudson shares.  “Together, we will cultivate an environment of growth, empower each learner, and inspire a community where every student can thrive and achieve their fullest potential.”

Hudson holds an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership with Administration licensure, and a Masters of Science Degree in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake University. In addition, she holds two undergraduate degrees; a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance. Hudson has also served in multiple building and district leadership roles at the K-12 level.

Roy and Hudson will join Travis Donahue in leadership positions at DCG High School. Donahue will be in his first year as DCG High School Principal. He’s been with the district for 16 years, most recently serving as assistant principal.

“Our team is ready!” Donahue says. “Austin and Sheila bring an incredible amount of educational experience to our front office. We stand ready to serve our students.”

Please join us in congratulating Austin Roy and Sheila Hudson on their new positions at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.
